The 61st annual Grammy Awards happened as usual. What was unusual is that Drake actually showed up.
The rapper doesn’t usually bother to attend these things, and his acceptance speech when he won Best Rap Song for “God’s Plan” provides us with some clues as to why.
Quick sidebar – you can find a complete list of the Grammy winners here.
Drake used his speech to question the musical establishment and to send a shout-out to artists who may not be receiving recognition from organisations like the Recording Academy, reports TIME.
Hear him out – he makes some good points:
Truth. Pity about the time limit.
Drake has been nominated for many Grammys in his rap career, but has only won four, and the last time he attended was in 2013.
Although he showed up this year, he refused to perform.
He’s clearly not a fan of the establishment.
