Cape Town City may have ended up on the losing side last night, going down 3-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns, but the wonderfully named Kermit Erasmus can be proud of his efforts.
With the clock winding down, Erasmus brought Cape Town City back into it with a scorcher from distance, leaving Sundowns keeper Kennedy Mweene with no option other than to pick the ball out of the back of the net.
Feel free to watch the full highlights clip, but to see Kermit’s thunderbolt, skip ahead to the 5:20 mark:
Thankfully, Benni McCarthy wasn’t involved in any tussles with the opposition after the match, although the loss does dent City’s chances of an unlikely run at the title.
I’m well aware of my bias here, but I’m giving the goal of the week title to Newcastle’s roving centre-back Fabian Schär, with his effort from Tuesday night against Burnley:

Looks even better from the fans’ perspective:
All hail Rafa’s mighty Mags, who have now reached the lofty heights of 13th.
Hey, us Toon fans have to enjoy our small victories where we can get them.
