Our Favourite Billie Eilish Live Performance [Video]

17-year-old Billie is being hailed as this year’s buzziest new pop star, with her music connecting goth ideas across generations. Fine, I'll watch a performance.

So, that Billie Eilish, hey?

If you have no idea who we are talking about, you’re not alone, but the 17-year-old California-bred singer/songwriter is pretty popular right now.

Apparently, she is this year’s buzziest new pop star, and her song When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? “connects goth ideas across generations”.

Let’s keep it simple and start with a brief bio from All Music:

With angsty, introspective lyrics that don’t shy away from issues of mental health, she endeared herself to a devoted audience during her breakthrough years in the late 2010s when she was still just a teenager. On the heels of a sold-out headlining tour, she issued her debut album, 2019’s When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Eilishgrew up in a household of actors and musicians and was home schooled along with her brother Finneas O’Connell (the Slightlys). At the age of eight, she joined the Los Angeles Children’s Choir, developing the soulful vocals that would later appear on her early singles. After the release of the pop-leaning “Six Feet Under” and “Fingers Crossed,” Eilish made her breakthrough with “Ocean Eyes,” produced and co-written with her brother Finneas and released by Interscope.

You clearly grew up in a household of actors and musicians when your brother is called Finneas. You can read the rest of that bio here.

We promised you a live performance – I wouldn’t call it my favourite (I don’t know any and I just Googled around), but this one is from four days ago, when she performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live:

Cool, if that’s your thing.

This acoustic version of her hit song, Watch, is actually pretty rad:

Look at us, learning to appreciate Billie’s music together.

This is the most-watched video on her official YouTube channel:

By the way, she’s done pretty well on the money front, and Seventeen estimates that she is worth somewhere between $5 and $6 million.

At that age, I was scraping together coins to buy a bottle of Tassies from the 7-Eleven.

Good on you, Billie.

If you want to learn more about the pop star sensation, the Atlantic did an excellent piece on her last week, which you can read here.
