In a best-case scenario, a mugger gets nabbed by police and ends up being taken away in the back of a van.
All too often, that doesn’t happen, but at least there’s a little sting in the tail of this mugging that took place in Parkview, Johannesburg, on Wednesday last week.
Rather than letting the thief get away with his crime, a woman who was robbed at knifepoint decided to fight back.

The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, said she had just climbed out of an Uber and was waiting outside her sister’s home when a man pulled up on a motorbike. He ran towards her, wielding a switchblade, and demanded her phone…
The woman was unharmed and hopes the footage will inspire others to reject victimhood and act with courage.
She certainly displayed a fair amount of courage when she went chasing after her assailant, managing to grab her handbag back as he zoomed off:
