Where I grew up, we still had a drive-in movie theatre.
I have a lot of fond memories of helping to pack the car, loading up blankets and snacks, and heading out to the drive-in.
Once there, you bought your tickets, parked your car, and attached the speaker to the inside of the passenger seat window.
Then, the kids, myself included, inevitably fell asleep 15 minutes into the film.
Good times.
With the way the world is going – the return of cassette tapes, records, and Polaroid cameras – it’s maybe only a matter of time before the drive-in makes a comeback.
BuzzFeed News collected a series of pictures of drive-ins when they were at their peak in the mid-20th century, for those who want a jaunt down memory lane.
Enjoy:
There was always going to be one of a makeout session in the back, wasn’t there?
