Slow-moving traffic is enough to make anybody’s blood boil, but most of us have the common sense to remain in our vehicles and scream internally.

Apparently, this bloke in Pretoria never got the memo, with a video of his exploits being widely shared last month.

Whilst the exact motive for the unloading of his weapon remains unclear, Netwerk24 reported that frustration with a traffic jam at the Doornpoort toll plaza was the likely cause.

I’m sure a crowd of what sounds like children chanting “jou ma se p**s” didn’t help, either.

Here’s that video, with an obvious warning that there is swearing:

In the aftermath of the shooting, police said an investigation was underway, having opened a case of discharging a firearm in a public place and negligent handling of a firearm.

Earlier today, News24 reported that a 54-year-old man, believed to be a former police officer, has been arrested:

“Two members of the Sinoville detectives’ detection team, Warrant Officers Riaan Booysen and Duppie du Pisani, followed up on information and identified and located the suspect,” [police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan] Van Dyk said…

“Six firearms were found in a storage facility and one firearm and ammunition was found in [the suspect’s] vehicle. Another two firearms was found and handed in at the Sinoville [police station].”

The firearms will now be sent for ballistic testing, with van Dyk adding that the man has been involved in a “previous incident”.

If he was hoping to revive his law enforcement career, this should spell the end of that dream.
