    Instagram is far from perfect.

The platform’s attempts at moderation can also leave a lot to be desired.

Even though hate speech, harassment, and bullying are all against Instagram’s community guidelines, abusive comments and content still manage to slip through the cracks.

So more often than not, it is up to you to lend a hand in stopping the toxicity.

Besides turning off your DMs from strangers, filtering certain words out, and limiting or disabling nasty comments on your account, you can also hit that report button.

And while reporting online abuse often feels like an aimless prayer into the ether, you’ll be happy to know that when you hit “Submit Report” on Instagram, your complaint won’t just evaporate into thin air.

The platform does actually allow you to check up on the reports to see whether they were received or not, and how they turned out.

Here’s how to see your report history on Instagram, thanks to Mashable:

    1. On the Instagram app, tap on your profile icon in the bottom right corner of the screen to go to your profile.
    2. Tap the hamburger icon in the top right corner (“≡”). This will open a popup menu.
    3. Tap “Settings” to go to your settings menu.
    4. Tap “Help,” which will bring you to Instagram’s help menu.
    5. Tap “Support Requests.”
    6. Tap “Reports.”
    7. This will show you a list of the reports you’ve made, including who made the reported post, what you reported it for, and the decisions Instagram has made about it.
    8. Tap a report, and you’ll be able to see more information about it, as well as tap through to view the reported content itself.

You can also request a review of some of your reports if you’re not satisfied with the outcome or conclusion.

That should help you make the platform less hostile for those who’ve had their fair share of unsolicited sexters, simps, or solicitors.
