In planning the perfect suicide some people go to great lengths, and some with a flair for the dramatic go to great heights. Like the lady from Pretoria who climbed a 50m construction crane in an attempt to jump to her death yesterday.
It took two police helicopters and an army of firefighters and paramedics five hours to snatch the middle-aged woman from the jaws of death after she climbed a crane in a fenced off construction site outside a shopping centre in Wingate Park.
Once reaching the top she reportedly hung off the edge of the crane with one arm and screamed abuse at people watching below. She also threatened to use a stun gun on herself. She certainly seemed serious – must have been terrifying from below.
