  • Here’s A Solid Reason To Eat Frozen Treats During Winter

Winter is almost here, which means goodbye ice-cream and tank tops and hello soup and scarves and ear-warmers, right?

Sure…if you’re into that sort of thing.

Personally, I think it’s time to break with winter traditions. The idea that we have to give up on half the fun stuff that summer brings is ridiculous.

This is especially true when it comes to alcoholic popsicles.

I only discovered Frost Popsicles late into the summer months, and they made everything more awesome. I have a theory that eating them throughout winter will have the same effect.

Also – fact – eating icy things in winter can actually warm you up.

Humans are endothermic animals, meaning that we control our temperature independent of our environment. If it’s cold, we put on layers or grab a blanket to warm up.  We ditch those layers when it’s warm.

It might seem counterintuitive, but eating something icy in winter can help to heat you up. Your body reacts to the coldness by regulating your body temperature, especially if you’re dressed for cold weather.

The Russians have been doing it for so long that it’s part of their folklore.

But don’t take my word for it. Try it for yourself.

Frost Popsicles is hosting a free Frost Popsicle tasting at Café du Cap this Friday, May 10. You can try their incredible flavours, like wine-infused Tranquille and Brut PJ Pops, which are great substitutes for a glass of the good stuff.

For the more adventurous popsicle connoisseur, the Passion Fruit & Peach Margarita Popsicle is made with 100% natural peach and passion fruit flavour extracts. You can also treat your palate and up the sophistication with the Blood Orange Screwdriver Popsicle.

Not into alcoholic pops? There’s a range of non-alcoholic options, including the Vanilla Coffee Popsicle, made using milk powder, a pure Madagascan vanilla extract, and a gourmet coffee blend.

Clear your schedule, grab some friends, and diarise the following:

    • Date: May 10, 2019 (this Friday)
    • Time: 12PM – 2PM
    • Place: Café du Cap – 113 Loop Street

    See you there!

If you can’t make it, check out the Frost Popsicles website to stock up, or look out for them in a retailer near you.
