Donald Trump might not be willing to concede the election, and Fox News is running around in circles trying to figure out how it feels about things, but the rest of the world appears to have settled comfortably into the knowledge that Joe Biden will be the 46th president of the United States of America.
If you’re still on a high, and keen to continue celebrating with some bubbly this weekend, you won’t be alone.
Following the announcement that Biden is the president-elect (we still have to deal with Trump’s court cases and tantrums for a while longer), the congratulatory messages from world leaders and prominent organisations started rolling in.
Among them, one from Boris Johnson.

It seemed like the standard ‘well done, we’re looking forward to working with you’ message until someone did a bit of a colour adjustment, revealing some hidden text in the background.
The Guardian explains:
Above and behind the words “Joe Biden on his election”, the shadow of the words “Trump on” become faintly visible. Where the main message reads “the US is our most important ally and I look forward to working closely together”, the words “second term” appear. And below the words “shared priorities” is the phrase “on the future of this”.
It was first reported by the Guido Fawkes blog.
It’s a little tough to see here, so you’ll have to look closely:
This helps to clarify things:
It was an odd choice from Downing Street to alter a pre-existing image rather than create an entirely new one, let alone to not then fully delete the original message.
The revelation comes amid a relationship already troubled by Biden’s memorable description of Johnson as the “physical and emotional clone of Donald Trump”.
They share some suspicious hair as well.
This is the ‘congratulations message’ version of that time Boris tried to use a mop.
