A Twitter War Has Been Sparked By Hellmann’s Telling Folks To Put Mayo In Their Coffee

Hellmann's Mayonnaise tweeted that folks should put mayo in their coffee. Since then, Twitter has gone ballistic, with one user saying that the tweet is "pure violence".

I am a big mayonnaise fan.

Lathering anything and everything up in the creamy goodness is how my ideal mealtime goes down.

Coffee, too, I love it. A  freshly brewed cup of quality coffee is the only wake-up call that I will ever respond well to.

But these two consumables are enjoyed separately. Never together. Surely?

Not according to Hellmann’s, apparently, who made a very brave tweet last Thursday:

The absolute audacity, from one of the more popular and delicious mayo brands out there nogal, is almost too much to swallow.

Well, naturally, Twitter is going ballistic, with one user saying that the tweet is “pure violence,” along with a couple of others decrying the mayo brand completely.

IOL reports that the American singer Dionne Warwick even blocked Hellmann’s account on Twitter because she “won’t tolerate” them telling us to put mayo in our coffee.

Others took it a step further and reported the company on Twitter:

This Twitter user hits the nail on the head if you can excuse his language:

Another:

Some were brave enough to try it, which was hopefully just in the name of science:

The American company then put out more tweets to stir the pot…of coffee…and mayo:

Obviously, the Twitter war just got bigger after that.

Philadelphian sports writer Jim Salisbury admitted that he has put mayo in his coffee, adding that it is not all that bad, reported Cape Town Etc.

Salisbury might indeed be the only person on this planet who thinks it is a good idea to add something with oil, egg yolk, and lemon juice/vinegar to coffee.

Someone named Linda said she would “rather slide down a razor blade into a pool of alcohol” than try it.

That might be an overreaction, but I think I am with her.

Nobody should mess with a good cup of coffee, and most certainly not anything from a reputable coffee brand such as Terbodore:

Ah, yes. Some good, plain coffee is the safe space we all deserve.

Terbodore harvests and uses supreme beans to produce tropical, vibrant flavours, whilst also giving back to the community.

In the Mutambu Commune, in Burundi, for example, buyers work with the surrounding community to restore coffee production after years of neglect due to war and insecurity and have planted tens of thousands of new trees in the past four years.

Terbodore coffee roasters work hard to bring us the best while doing the most, so adding anything else, worst of all mayo, would be a real travesty for more reasons than just one.

Hopefully, that is enough to make the more adventurous foodies out there more mindful about where to put their mayo.
