Oftentimes, things are less frustrating when you see how they work.
It’s like when you hear your upstairs neighbour clomping around and your frustration reaches a boiling point after your theorising about what in hell’s name they’re doing starts to get absurd.
Oh, they dropped something. No wait, that sounds like they’re rollerblading from room to room. Excuse me, are they seriously vacuuming on a scooter with bells attached at this ungodly hour?
It is the same for Eskom. What in hell’s name goes on there that we must suffer stage after stage of load shedding?
Well, thanks to one Eskom employer on TikTok, we’re all getting a bit of closure by seeing how it all works behind the scenes.
Per IOL, TikTokker @mandisidyantyi works at a power station and has graciously told Mzansi that he is responsible for switching off electricity.
His video of how power cuts are initiated in North West, Rustenburg has gathered over 3,6 million views and 123 000 likes:

Managing 11 000 volts of electricity is not for the faint-hearted and this worker doesn’t even have the proper protective gear to do his job:

Eish.
One person commented that they assumed power outages were automated, while others cracked jokes about how they finally found the person responsible for executing Eskom’s orders.
Meanwhile, EskomSePush warned that load shedding was only going to get more “extreme” while also making light of the situation with a load shedding 2022 wrapped joke:

192 720 minutes of power was lost this year. Yikes.
