A Pro-Russian military blogger Vladlen Tatarsky was assassinated on Sunday with a bomb hidden in a statue of the guy himself.
A chilling video has emerged on social media that shows the Russian combatant receiving the statue which would kill him a short while later.
Tatarsky was killed and 30 more were injured in the cafe in St. Petersburg where the blast went off. In the video, you can see Tatarsky open the box to remove the likeness before exclaiming, “Oh, what a handsome guy! Is that me? It’s golden!”
The video was taken by an audience member and shows Tatarsky in front of a giant photo of himself framed by AK-47s and other assault weapons.
Tatarsky was a fanatical Russian supporter with nearly 500 000 followers on Telegram, the messaging platform owned by Russian millionaire Pavel Durov. Some of his recent posts suggest he was your typical warmongering blogger and pro-Putin ‘soldier’ who had no qualms with the death and destruction playing out in Ukraine.
“We will defeat everyone, kill everyone, rob everyone, just as we like.”
Don’t forget rape, too, Tatarsky.
Anyway, you live by the sword, you die by a statue of yourself, as the saying goes. Russian authorities have already arrested a 26-year-old woman named Darya Trepova for the bombing and have even released a tape in which she can be heard confessing to the act.
“I would say it’s for my presence at the scene of the murder of Vladlen Tatarsky,” she said when asked if she understood why she was arrested. “I brought the statuette there that then exploded.”
VICE reports that Russia’s National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) claimed it had evidence that the bombing was a plot by Ukrainian special forces and a jailed Russian politician, Alexei Navalny. Navalny has denied the accusations, saying “Of course, we do not do such things”.
Check out the eerie moment Tatarsky receives the statue that would later kill him.
