Earlier this year, Prime Video announced that our boy Trevor Noah would host its first-ever South African original series, LOL: Last One Laughing.
The idea of the show is for Noah to pit “ten of South Africa’s most popular people” against one another to see who can keep a straight face while simultaneously trying to make their opponents laugh… and lose.
The last comedian to laugh will receive a grand prize of R1 million, which will be donated to their charity of choice.
Noah explains the premise better:
Now, all the local celebs who have been patiently waiting to break their silence about joining Trevor Noah on the show are excitedly sharing that they got the spot.
Among them is comedian Jason Goliath, who shared the news on Instagram:

The Citizen announced that the other Saffa celebs who will be part of the TV show include Thando ‘ThaBooty’ Thabethe, Lasizwe, Celeste Ntuli and Moonchild Sanelly.
“Omg I’m so excited for this one …I’ve studied the game in all the other territories on @amazonprimevideoza and these comedians don’t know what’s coming,” said Thabethe.
“Super hyped to be competing for the title of the Last One Laughing. It’s going to get really messy,” shared cast member and comedian, Mojak Lehoko.
Moonchild and actress Nomzamo Mbatha are some of the cast members who aren’t comedians.

The comedy show has been originally adapted in Japan, Australia and France, among other countries, and it’s finally giving our funny men and women a chance to join in.
LOL: Last One Laughing South Africa is set to launch on Prime Video in February 2024.
