EWN’s Cape Talk have reported that this video posted yesterday shows an arrest undertaken in Cape Town. The IPID (Independent Police Investigative Directorate) are investigating the police involved in the arrest, as they appear to have used unjustified force. Particularly, police strip the arrested man of his clothing in the street, grab him by the throat, and kick him in the genitals.
He might be this years forerunner for being the dumbest criminal. Not only did he post a video of himself racing through traffic on the San Antonio police department’s Facebook page, writing “Catch me if you can,” it was done under his name. It turns out the police could indeed catch the moronic Alberto Rodriguez.

Police commissioner Bheki Cele is currently suspended. South African police are not the public’s favourite people despite much of the great work that they do. This morning the Treasury issued a report in which it recommended that the SAPS reduce staff by 9 000. In a country with one of the highest crime rates in the world, the recommendation seems questionable at best.
