Well if you don’t drown in a bath of bubbly this weekend then you are clearly doing something wrong! Seriously, you won’t believe what I just received in my inbox. Enjoy this – In celebration of The Vibe party this weekend, Boschendal are offering all 2oceansvibe readers a very rude discount on our favourtie bubbly, […]
So Heritage Auctions sold a 1997 edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for $29, 875. A book that you can remember the release of just sold at a rare books auction. You’re Old now. If you can’t remember 1997, please crawl back into the womb.
Last September was a special month for 2010. The calendar was graced by South Africa’s first ever WeLoveRealBeer Craft Beer Festical, which celebrated local food, and small, independent breweries, dedicated to producing artisanal beers. On last year’s billing were 10 small, independent breweries, a motley crew of “home brewers”, two bands, a DJ, and a collection of […]
Just picked up some news on SA’s leading fashion blog, PopYaCollar.co.za, that Giorgio Armani has bought a house in Camps Bay. I just love the way he rolls and cannot wait to join him for a Corona at Caprice! Apparently the house is on Ronald Road – PopYacollar has an aerial shot showing where it […]
I’m not sure how readily the service is available, but La Muse and I took (stole) one of the picnic baskets from The Roundhouse to the beach this weekend. We indulged in the likes of their homemade truffle cream cheese, spread on ciabatta, with shaven ham and oysters on the side. Naturally there was a […]
Ha. Last night, someone in control of the Red Cross Twitter feed accidentally posted “Ryan found two more 4 bottle packs of Dogfish Head’s Midas Touch beer…when we drink we do it right #gettngslizzerd. ” Then the internet found out & made a meme of it, resulting in a flood of Red Cross blood donations.
Great news from 2oceansvibe’s preferred bubbly, Boschendal – it looks like we’re being treated to the immediate release of the 2007 Grande Cuvée Brut. With the 2006 singled our as the only 4½ star MCC (Méthode Cap Classique) amongst the top performing wines of 2010 rated by Wineland Magazine’s Watterwyn panel of experts. So I’d say […]
It’s that time of year again kids – that’s right, the WHO has released their saucy ‘Global Status Report on Alcohol and Health 2011’ – which means we get to find out if SA’s still a rock-out party country, or if we’ve gotten all lame and started taking our liver problems seriously.
Well this seems like a good way to end the week/start the weekend. Beer-batter marshmallows. I don’t know how I feel about these things, taste-wise, but in terms of taking something awesome and then coating it in something else that’s awesome, beer marshmallows get my stamp of approval.
Beer. Nectar of the Gods. Liquid Grace was crafted for humankind to take the edge off any week. We all know that, but just how strong do ‘they’ make it? Well it turns out that the World’s Strongest Beer went on sale yesterday and the name will bring a wry smile to one member of the Sharks squad.
Awesome: The Vietnamese recently celebrated a lunar New Year. Not so awesome: The power went out. Awesome: Some friends improvised by pulling an actual car into the house and letting it run in order to jam some tunes. Not so awesome: No one thought to open a window.
While our Facebook photos from the event can give you an idea of the awesomeness of the vibe that day, it can never do it justice. That is why I invented the ‘moving picture’ and, subsequently, this video. Jump in and re-live that day with us. Feel the vibe throughout your body, not just through […]
“Hey guys. I’m Gary Thomas. Welcome to The Waiting Room. We’re going to play you some music, in case you were wondering about all…this.” So began Gary Thomas’ Long Street gig last night. It stayed awkward, but the music got better as the night went on.
If Charlie Sheen carries on like this I’m making a shrine for him on my wall. 36 hours of coke and vodka until your stomach pushes through your oesophagus. This is the work of a superhuman. Charlie’s in rehab now, but I’m sure it’s only a break. Superhumans also detox.
The inventors and perfectors of binge drinking, the British, have come up with a handy little tool called the Booze Calculator. This highly scientific test will help you find out exactly what you did to your body and your wallet this weekend. Click through to take the test.
Imagine that? Well it’s a very real thing, my friends. Goldfish are performing a DANGEROUSLY intimate gig on the roof of the Cape Royale hotel tomorrow (Friday) from 15h30 and all the 2oceansvibe brands are taking care of drinks. That’s right – we’re talking Jack Daniel’s, Corona, Jack Black, BOS iced tea, Boschendal bubby, De […]
I’m not sure how to feel about this. Scottish Spirits is testing out canned whiskey in South America on the grounds that outdoor drinkers would rather not have to lug a bottle of the stuff around. You also look like less of an insane drunk if you’re taking sips from a can instead of swigs from a bottle of scotch, so there’s that.
Well, I guess Ryan Rusnak wins at weekends. Nice try, everybody. This dude set up his fridge to fire a variety of beers at him from across the room whenever he keys in the command on his iPhone. I mean sure, he’s choosing to have Bud Light thrown at him, but cultural differences. Focus on the potential here.
Applying for jobs sucks. It’s awkward and painful and time-consuming. But some people know how to do it right – how to avoid getting caught in the rat-trap of sweaty-palmed interviews and communicate a certain level of coolness at the same time. Presented below is one such person’s job application. Please – read it, and learn to be a better person.
This is a novel idea from our ruling party: Move the end of year party to the start of the year, stretch it out over a weekend and end the whole thing with a concentrated celebration bash at the Moses Mabhida stadium. Add class to the event by serving Jack Daniel’s honey-glazed boerewors and subsidising the liquor. Now who said governing shouldn’t be fun?
You also bump into things, talk loud, take swipes at lamp shades and smash your fist through tempered glass when you’re drunk? Well, it’s not because we were simply raised that way. It’s not even the liquor. It’s Drunk Gene.
There are some shopping malls in Cape Town that are not very much fun to visit. Retail and culinary quarters, on the other hand, are packed full of celebrities, and the Cape Quarter is one of them. But they’re not content with providing you with eye candy, they want to give you free Boschendal bubbly, too. Click through for details.
That little area area at the top of Bree Street really has become the place to be seen. With HQ, Caveau and &Union stretching up to DVD Nouveau, Rotisserie 360, Jardine’s and now a brand new Vespa store! It’s right next to Jardine’s (just down Bloem Street at 4-way stop) and it opens with a […]
This is hardly breaking news, but our inboxes have been haunted by it in the last few days, so we thought we’d fill in those of you who haven’t seen it already. Brandhouse is this festive season’s latest corporate entity to launch an anti drink-driving television and print campaign. Let’s just say “prison” and “enforced spooning”.
All I need to say about Varsity Blues is Ali Larter and whipped cream bikini. Yoh, even as a female I had trouble breathing. And we all know that it is just about every guy’s fantasy to have his lady do this for him. So laydezz, get this alcoholic version of whipped cream and makes things even more interesting.
Hearken, The Cape Town Festival of Beer approaches. A lot of people have asked, does Cape Town really need another beer festival? We’d like to point out that what Cape Town is getting is a Festival of Beer, not a beer festival. What’s the difference? The former is sophisticated and fun. The latter never is. Now, would a certain 2oceansviber like a 2oceansvibe Festival of Beer special? You would? Click through for details.
It’s a festival of beer like no other. From 25 to 27 November (this coming weekend), Hamilton’s Rugby Club (next to the Cape town stadium) will be home to the 2010 Cape Town Festival of beer. With over 40 different beers and 20 brewers on board, not to mention live band, big screens (Boks vs […]
Some weeks ago, Finnish divers discovered several crates of two-centuries-old champagne and beer from a sunken ship in the Baltic Sea for nearly two centuries. They then drank some of it because, hey, why not. And, because sharing is nice, Finnish authorities sponsored a public opening and tasting of the champagne last Friday.
Be sure to get the new GQ Magazine for December, which features 2oceansvibe’s favourite choice of bubbly, Boschendal. They say Boschendal is made for people “with a sparkling wit and sunny disposition, but are serious about quality.” Umm, yes – that’s pretty much how we roll, here at 2oceansvibe! Click to see the feature – […]
